Dating safely

Everyone on Meetwell has passed a liveness check, which means you are talking to a real person. It does not mean you know them yet. A few habits make the difference.
Before you meet
- Keep the conversation in Meetwell until you have met. Someone pushing to move to WhatsApp or another app in the first few messages is a common pattern in scams.
- Never send money, gift cards, crypto, or your bank or ID details to someone you met online, however good the story. Report it to us straight away.
- Do a quick video chat first if you want to. It is normal to ask.
The first date
- Use the Date Planner. Every suggested venue is public, busy and easy to leave, and when both of you confirm we schedule a check-in 90 minutes after the start.
- Tell a friend where you are going and who with. The “share with a friend” link on a confirmed date does this in one tap.
- Get yourself there and back. Keep your drink with you. Leave whenever you want to — you do not owe anyone an explanation.
If something feels wrong
Trust the feeling. Block and report from any card or chat (the “Report or block” button). Reports are reviewed by a person and the other member is never told who reported them. In an emergency call 000. For support after an incident, 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732) is available 24 hours.
What we do on our side
Liveness verification for every member, scam-pattern detection in chat, a trust score that rewards people who show up, and a small team that reads every report. If you ever feel we missed something, email hello@meetwell.io.
